چکیده
Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA) pollution in marine environmental media poses great risks to organisms due its potential endocrine-disrupting effects. However, limited attention of TBBPA’s effects has been paid on invertebrates. In this work, the reproductive TBBPA were evaluated by observing gametes development, quantifying gender-specific gene expression, and determining vertebrate sex hormones mussels Mytilus galloprovincialis treated with for 30 days. Additionally, transcriptomic profiling enzymes activities conducted investigate mechanisms We found that promotion gametogenesis alterations occurred TBBPA-treated both sexes. Meanwhile, estrogen sulfotransferase (SULT1E1) steroid sulfatase (STS) up-regulated at transcript level as a result treatments, suggesting disrupted steroidogenesis through promoting steroids sulfonation hydrolysis sulfate steroids. The induction SULTs biotransformation might be responsible dysregulation metabolism. Overall, these findings provide new insight into assessing impact well biomonitoring environment. • exposure induced mussel. promoted altered levels SULT1E1 STS protein TBBPA. Steroids targets

Effects of 17beta-estradiol exposure in the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis.
Mussels Mytilus galloprovincialis were exposed to different concentrations of estradiol (20, 200, and 2000 ng/l) in a semi-static regime (1-day dosing intervals) for up to 7 days in an attempt to see how mussels dealt with exogenous estrogenic compounds. Sex hormone levels were determined in whole tissue. Free-estradiol was only significantly elevated at the highest exposure dose (up to 10-fold...

متن کاملAntimicrobial Peptides from Mussel Mytilus Galloprovincialis: the Myticins
Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) have been found in different bivalve species but a remarkable abundance of these small peptides has been reported for the Mediterranean mussel, Mytillus galloprovincialis. In particular, the myticin C (Myt C) is the most abundantly expressed gene in cDNA libraries and also in Next generation sequencing projects after immune stimulation. This AMP presents a high gen...
متن کاملEarly Genotoxic and Cytotoxic Effects of the Toxic Dinoflagellate Prorocentrum lima in the Mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis
Okadaic acid (OA) and dinophysistoxins (DTXs) are the main toxins responsible for diarrhetic shellfish poisoning (DSP) intoxications during harmful algal blooms (HABs). Although the genotoxic and cytotoxic responses to OA have been evaluated in vitro, the in vivo effects of these toxins have not yet been fully explored. The present work fills this gap by evaluating the in vivo effects of the ex...
متن کاملEffects of elevated pCO2 on early development in the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis
We investigated the effects of seawater equilibrated with CO2-enriched air (2000 ppm, pH 7.4) on the early development of the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis. Mussel embryos were incubated for 144 h (6 d) in control and high-CO2 seawater to compare embryogenesis, larval growth and morphology with ordinary light, polarized light, and scanning electron microscopy. Embryogenesis was unaffected by...
